Benedict

Benedict: Hi Jody! How are you?
Zhou: Hi. I’m doing so good. Nice to see you.
Benedict: Nice to see you.
Zhou: Thanks for welcoming us to your home. Hi, girls, how are you?
Benedict: The girls are crazy. (Dehlia wipes out)
Zhou: Delia, you became so big. That’s okay. We’re just going to pick you right up. Thank you, Benedict.
Benedict.

Benedict: Come on. We’re out in the backyard.
Zhou: Oh, it’s beautiful, Benedict.
Benedict.
Benedict: It’s our little oasis in the city.
Zhou: It is. It looks like a big tree house. Oh look a big tree.
Benedict:

Benedict: The kids like to hideaway up there, on the second deck. It’s sort of a place to getaway. I mean, we’re in the city here. And privacy is not that easy to get. So, this gives us a certain amount of privacy.

Benedict: It also makes it part of the neighborhood. We have (all) neighbors here. So we do share parts of things. It is a get-away for a lot of us who have kids. You can’t let your kid play in the city … in a lot of places. Here we’ll have pool parties for the kids. It is a get-away.

Zhou: Can you introduce me to your friends here?
Benedict: The chickens? Yeah, here’s our chickens.
Zhou:
Benedict:

Zhou: What do you get from having them here?
Benedict: Eggs.
周: Eggs. Of course. Eggs

Benedict: And it’s kind of nice … in the city where you don’t have things like chickens and other types of livestock. So, it’s kind of nice. For the kids it’s wonderful.

Jody: What has it brought to their lives?

Benedict: Nature. They’re chickens, you know. It’s great. They run around and have a good time with the chickens.

Jody: They take care of them?

Benedict: They take care of them. They check for eggs everyday.

Benedict: I like to lie out here and here the chickens doing their thing … watch the bamboo go back and forth.

Benedict: I’m not really here in DC really. I love being in DC. But it’s calm and nice.

Zhou: I’m dying to see the girls’ hideaway.

Benedict: Go ahead up. Go ahead up.

Zhou: Thank you very much, Benedict, for welcoming me to your home. It’s lovely. I love your get-away in the city.

Benedict: You’re always welcome. Thanks for visiting my little get-away. Come and feed the chickens.

Zhou: I will. I will come often to feed your chickens.

Benedict: You’re always welcome. And don’t fall out of the hammock.

Zhou: I’m not. This is my favorite spot.

Zhou: This is my favorite spot. I think I can do this. Oh yeah. Oh Benedict.
Benedict: Life is good.
